Official rounds of the Florida Archery Association

THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS.  EVENTUALLY ALL OF OUR ROUNDS WILL BE HERE IN DETAIL.

Rounds are ordered by the typical seasons that FAA shoots.  State Championships are usually held Indoor (both)  (last weekend in January, first two weekends in February unless it is being held with the Sectional), International (just moved to November - too many shoots in April), Metric Field (late August), Field (Memorial Day weekend), Sunshine State Games (June)Florida 1440 (September), Target (900)  (October) and 3 Marked 3-D (January, March, April).

 
Indoor Round.
1.The standard round shall consist of the 60 arrows shot at 20 yds in 12 ends of 5 arrows each with your target face being moved from top to bottom and from left to right after the sixth end.  The archers shooting the upper target shoot first.  Archers have 4 minutes to shot 5 arrows (any arrows not shot in the allotted time period are counted as missed).
2The Indoor target is blue with a white spot.  The archer has a choice of two different faces when shooting the Indoor round.  You may select a Five spot face or a single spot face.  Once an archer has selected a target face they may not change to the other type during that round.  The five spot face contains only the spot, five ring and four ring.  Any arrow not in a scoring area is counted as a miss.  The single spot contains scoring for the spot, five, four three, two and one.


  Metric Indoor Round.
1.  FAA currently shoots a Fita I consisting of 60 arrows shot at 18 meters.
2.  There are 20 ends of 3 arrows each shot in two minutes.
3.  600 is a perfect score.
4.  Targets are scored 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1.  Compound shooters use the "x" ring for a 10 ring and the rest of the gold is scored as a 9.   Recurve shooters use the two inner rings as a 10 and the outer gold ring as a 9.
5.  Archer has a choice of shooting a single spot or a three spot multicolor face.
 

International Round.

2.The International Round uses the same target face as the Hunter round.  The scoring is the same as for the Field Round except that there are only three arrows shoot per target.
Allmarkers to be colored green if present (normal field stakes will work when using a field range and just don't shoot the 80W, 45W, 15, and Bunny).


Metric Feld Round
1.  FAA shoots a Fita Field Round of 24 targets.

2. 12 are marked distances:  Three targets each 20cm, 40cm, 60cm, and 80cm size faces:

    20cm face:    BB (Blue Stake) 5, 10, 15 meters  --  Oly & Cd (Red Stake) 10, 15, and 20 meters.

    40cm face:    BB = 15, 20, 25  --  Oly & Cd = 20, 25, 30
    60cm face:    BB = 30, 35, 40  --  Oly & Cd = 35, 40, 45

    80cm face:    BB = 40, 45, 50  --  Oly & Cd = 50, 55, 60

3. 12 are unmarked with the distance to the target being in the range of the distances permited for the size of the target face.

.  Three unmarked targets for each size face with shots that are either single stake or walk ups.  These three targets for each size face are suppose to be short, medium and long within the distance spread.

    20cm face:    BB = 5 to 10 meters  --  Oly & Cd = 10 to 15 meters
    40cm face:    BB = 10 to 20  --  Oly & Cd = 15 to 25

    60cm face:    BB = 15 to 30  --  Oly & Cd = 20 to 35

    80cm face:    BB = 30 to 45  --  Oly & Cd = 35 to 55

4.  There are three arrows shot per target scored 6,5,4,3,2,1.

5.  The maximum possible score is 360 points.

2.The field face shall have a black spot with a white inner ring and black outer ring, four face sizes shall be used :-

2.The Hunter face shall be all black with white spot. Four face sizes shall be used with dimensions the same as the field faces.The scoring is the same as for the Field Round.
Allmarkers to be colored red.

Animal Round

1.The standard unit shall consist of the following shots :-
 
Group 1 face
Three 5yd walk-up shots with first marker set between 60 and 40 yards (3 markers)
Group 2 face
Three 3yd walk-up shots with first marker set between 45 and 30 yards (3 markers)
Group 3 face
Four one position shots (one marker) with marker set between 35 and 20 yards
Group 4 face
Four one position shots (one marker) with marker set between 20 and 10 yards

2.Targets

a.The targets for this round are Animal faces with the scoring area divided into two parts. The high scoring area is oblong while the low scoring area is the area between the high scoring area and the "hide and hair" line or "feathers" as the case may be.The area between the "hide and hair" line (including the line) to the outside of the carcass is considered a non-scoring area.

b.The high scoring area of Group 1 faces is 9" wide by 14 ½" long with rounded ends.

c.The high scoring area of Group 2 faces is 7" wide by 10 ½" long with rounded ends.

d.The high scoring area of Group 3 faces is 4 ½" wide by 7" long with rounded ends.

e.The high scoring area of Group 4 faces is 2 ½" wide by 3? " long with rounded ends.

3.Shooting Positions
a.A maximum of three shots is allowed, but an archer shoots only until a hit is made.If the first arrow hits the scoring area no more arrows need be shot. 
b.An archer may not return to shoot the other arrows if he has moved towards the target.
c.An archer's arrows must be clearly defined by rings, arrows to be shot in ascending order. If an archer accidentally shoots the wrong arrow first, he must immediately declare the fact to the Target Captain.
d.Juniors shall shoot Group 1 targets from the closest marker on these walk-ups.
e.The first archer shall shoot at the first target face and the sequence of first, second, third and fourth archer (etc), thereafter shall be in rotation according to the score card order.

3-D.

FAA shoots marked and unmarked 3-D rounds.  Animals are three demensional animals (McKenzie, Longhorn, etc.)  Max distance of Unmarked is 50 yards adult, 40 yards traditional, longbow and youth, 25 yards Cub and PeeWee. Max distance for Marked is 60 yards adult, 45 yards traditional, longbow and youth, 25 yards Cub and PeeWee.

900 Round.


1.  Round consists of 90 arrows.  30 shot at 60 yards, 30 shot at 50 yards and 30 shot at 40 yards (Youth shoot 50, 40, and 30), (Cubs shoot 30, 20, 10) and (PeeWee shoot 20, 15, 10)
2.  Archers shoot at a 122 cm multicolor face with a gold center, followed by red, blue, black and white rings.  The target is scored 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1.
3.  Archers shoot 6 arrows per end.  Five ends at each distance.

Florida 1440 Round.
1.  Round is 144 arrows with 36 arrows shot using a 122cm face at two longer distances and an 80cm face at the two shorter distances, 1440 is perfect.  Here is a distance chart from Texas Archery.

3.  The target is scored 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1.  The "x" ring in the middle of the target is used as a tie braker for all styles.
4.    Both targets have a gold (10, 9) center, followed by red(8, 7), blue (6, 5), black (4, 3) and white (2, 1) rings

720 Round
1.  720 round is 72 arrows shot at 12 ends of 6 arrows in 3 minutes.  Target faces
