Fins and feathers… looking for
a “reel” offshore fishing experience? If you are, then we are the
boat for you. Why, you ask? Because your captain and mate
truly
feel that you, the fisherman or fisherwoman, should be the
“angler”.
What we mean by this is that you may do as much “hands on” with all the
rods and reels and tackle as you wish - even if you have never been
fishing
before. The captain and mate have many years of experience
together
as not only a captain and mate team, but also as husband and
wife.
The mate will fully instruct you on how to use the tackle and let you,
the angler, do all the “hook ups” on the fish. This is the THRILL
that sets the angler’s pulse rate up and puts a big smile on his or her
face. Les and I love what we do for a living and this shows on
our
boat with our enthusiasm, our patience, our skills, and our devotion to
making your fishing trip an experience to remember for many years to
come.
Another factor that you can count on with us is the fact we will always
tell you exactly what has been happening offshore as far as the “bite”
goes and also about the weather and the conditions of the ocean.
Our fishing vessel is a 36 foot Magnum Marine Sportfisherman set up to
accommodate up to six anglers with much fishing space and
comfort.
Our trips include bait, tackle, ice, and all licenses. We ask
that
you bring aboard just what you would like to eat and drink and suntan
lotion.
Fishing aboard the “Fins and Feathers”—during the weather months, late November through early March we would be fishing for Sailfish, Kingfish, Grouper, and Snapper. We would start out on your charter by stopping on the reef and catching live ballyhoo for our Sailfish bait. We do a controlled drift in about 130 foot of water, with live baits on the surface for the Sails, mid-range bait for Kingfish, and a bait right off the bottom for your Grouper and Snapper. We do occasionally catch dolphin and barracuda too. As spring arrives so do the Dolphin fish, not flipper, he is a mammal, but dorado, or also known in Hawaii as Mahi Mahi. The fish that makes everybody on board so very happy. Why? Because there are usually lots of them, they are so very acrobatic, beautiful in color, and they are great to eat. Dolphin are the most people-pleasing fish in the ocean. Everybody, no matter how big or small, with or without experience, has fun catching them.
